Founded on September 30, 1957 Austrian (also known as Austrian Airlines
or Österreichische Luftverkehrs) began as a result of a merger between
Air Austria and Austrian Airways. It is the international airline of
Austria and is headquatered in Vienna. Before 2003, Austrian was
operating as Austrian Airlines.

In-Flight
Starting 2006, Austrian will have XXL fully reclining seats with more
than 1.5 m between seats. Internet access through “Connexion by Boeing”
will be available even to economy and a new catering concept where
famous chefs from around the world create delicacies and freshly
prepared meals from Indo-Chinese specialties or traditional Japanese
cuisine to trendy Austrian fare. Austrian will be providing more video
channels with Life-TV or up to 18 current hit movies. Austrian
currently provide“comfort kits” with aromatic products and other items
selected to improve the comfort of long flights. Inside are soft cotton
socks, a small hand massage ball, a refreshing aroma roll-on and much
more. Passengers can even enjoy a back massage while listening to
anything from classical and lounge music to “7 Skies Meditation”. With
the new enhancements to Austrian, cabins of long-distance flights will
be transforming into entertainment lounges and Internet cafes.

Austrian is a member of Star Alliance, one of the world's major airline
alliances. Airlines of the Star Alliance offer 790 destinations in 138
