Korean Air is the largest commercial carrier based in Korea and one of
the largest airlines in Asia. Korean Air began in 1962 as Korean Air
Lines (KAL) replacing the former Korean carrier Korean National
Airlines (KNA) and was owned by the South Korean Government. By 1969
KAL was bought by the Hanjin Transport Group and has been privately
owned ever since. In 1984 Korean Air Lines changed its name to Korean
Air coinciding with the introduction of a new design and colour for its
logo and aircraft livery.

In-Flight
On board Korean Air flights a selection of 16 music channels on every
seat offers a wide selection of styles from traditional Korean to the
latest Korean tracks. There are also channels offering a taste of music
from across most genres from pop to classical to jazz from the US,
Japan and China. On flights offering AVOD (Audio, Video On Demand)
there is a choice of up to 20 CD albums. Korean Air also offer a range
of up to 30 short programs including documentary, sports, music videos,
news (CNN, KBS, MBC, SBS) along with a large number of movies, music and
games. There is also a SkyTeam information and arrival video which
provides traffic, shopping and tourism information about the
destination. Thanks to the support of the US connection by Boeing,
Korean Air can now provides high speed wireless in-flight internet
connection allowing you to surf the net, keep up to date with emails or
shop as if you're at home or the office.
SkyTeam
Korean Air is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. SkyTeam began
on 22 June 2000 by Aeromexico, Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean
Air. Since then other airlines such as CSA Czech Airlines, Alitalia,
Continental, KLM and Northwest have also joined the alliance with more
on their way to becoming members. There are also affiliated airlines
such as Air Europa, Copa Airlines, Kenya Airways and Tarom. Aeroflot
and China Southern Airlines have both signed an MOU taking the first
step towards membership. In total there are 2,069 aircraft belonging to
SkyTeam. Member airlines operate 15,207 daily flights to 684
destinations in 133 countries. By joining SKYPASS you can earn
miles/points no matter which Sky Team Alliance airline you fly with.

SKYPASS is
the frequent flyer program of Korean Air, "SKYPASS" is also the blue
card which frequent flyers of Korean Air are given. The motto for
SKYPASS is "Beyond your Imagination," and is also printed on the
SKYPASS card. For those 12 years and younger there is SKYPASS Junior
where members can earn 75% of adult travelled miles and can have
benefits like bonus award travel. When a junior member reaches 12 years
